This is a real memory jerker for me. A bank like this sat on the hallway shelf
in my parents house when I was growing up & any spare change was dropped in the
"Kitty" tin to help pay the bills.
In those days, most bills owing were doorstepped by large men with leather
satchels & receipt books. The rent man was particularly feared & other bills
had to wait if the rent money was short!
We also saved for coal, gas, electric, the milkman & holidays! The holiday
fund was the one that got robbed most often!
This is a nice early example in heavy gauge pressed steel with a dark blue
enamel coating & has 6 slots with internal dividers. The hinge is sound & the
lid closes squarely. There is a holder on top for a card to label the slots.
Deeper & stronger than later models, it has a good double hook lock & comes
with one original key to prevent pilfering!
Approximately 21cm x 9cm x 7cm. 425g weight. Stamped with the 1920s Pilot
patent number 392277.
It is in excellent vintage condition with just light signs of wear. Please
have a good look at all the photos.
Perfect if you have 6 children & want to instill financial responsibility in
them or use for jewellery, keys or other secure storage.
